Pre-Recorded Workshops

Our live gardening webinars are very popular, but they aren't always convenient for everyone.  We are working on a solution to this and hope to have convenient access available soon so check back for more details!

Online Learning

These classes are set up differently than our pre-recorded workshops above. They are more in depth, significantly longer, and some of them can be used towards certification. These courses are designed to help beginning and experienced gardeners alike.

All courses are open to all members of the general public.

All of these are ongoing intake classes so you can register to begin any of them at any time. Prices do not include tax (PST & GST).

You don't need to be registered in the Master Gardener Program to take Master Gardener certification courses (MGCC). Any course you take will stay on your records. Should you decide to certify later, any MGCC you have taken will count toward your certification. Keep in mind that educational credits do expire after ten years so you may need to retake a class if you decide much later to certify.

Want to work towards certification online and at your own pace? We have two options for you.

The Gardening at Usask Master Gardener Program is an online program designed to teach new and experienced gardeners how to make thoughtful choices about their spaces to garden successfully, and without using pesticides. There are 9 courses and about 40 hours worth of course materials in this program, a volunteer inservice, and an online, open book exam.

The Prairie Hort Certificate Program is a 3 year distance certificate program for individuals working in the horticulture industry, as well as the passionate hobbiest. It is flexibly designed as a part-time program so you can balance work, school, and life. Expect to work eight to ten hours per week for a 60-hour course (.6) & approximately half that for a 30-hour (.3) course. If you have questions about the PHC program, please contact them here.

Prairie Horticulture Certificate (PHC) courses are approved by the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission (SATCC) as technical training credits towards an apprenticeship in the Landscape Horticulturist trade. This technical training provides the option to stay in Saskatchewan to complete both your educational training and your on the job training. For details, go to Landscape Horticulturist Apprenticeship Training.
