Kirsten Sarmiento

Kirsten Sarmiento lives in a core neighbourhood of Saskatoon and has worked with 7th Generation Rising as a lead garden program coordinator since March 2026. 7th Generation Rising is an Indigenous youth led, community organization that serves up to 500 meals every Sunday in the Riversdale area of Saskatoon. Kirsten, along with Maryanna Hardy, has been working with a network of gardeners to develop a system for building long term food security in the community. Her other roles include assisting with 7th Gen's social media, coordinating clothing and furniture donations, supply acquisition, and meal prep to support 7th Gen's Sunday dinners for our unhoused neighbours. Kirsten Sarmiento has successfully built a large, backyard garden for the first time this year.
