Safe planting dates for seedlings
When to transplant
When is it safe to plant your seedlings outdoors? It depends on where you live. Last expected spring frost dates in Saskatchewan are as early as May 15-21 for Saskatoon, Estevan and Swift Current, while Meadow Lake’s is June 5-7. To find your location see:

Last frost dates are estimates based on averages, so keep an eye on your local weather forecast. Other factors to consider:
- Is the soil warm?
- Are your plants hardened off?
- What are you growing? Tender vegetables like tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, eggplant and artichoke need warmer soil and air temperatures than cold-tolerant vegetables like cabbage, broccoli and lettuce.
