Strawberry leather

easy

250 mL (1 cup) mashed strawberries 

1 apple - peeled, cored and sliced 

15 mL (1 tbsp) honey 

Optional additions: mint or basil 

Puree strawberries and apple (and mint or basil if using) in a blender. In a saucepan, mix the puree and honey. Simmer over medium heat for 5 minutes. Allow this mixture to cool slightly before spreading onto drying sheets. To turn your puree into fruit leather, follow the drying instructions on your manual or follow our instructions on our fruit and vegetable leather making page.

You can make fruit leather out of any fruit, just follow the same instructions using the fruit of your choice. Adjust the sugar and spices to taste, and add water or fruit juices to the blender as needed to achieve a moist paste. The wetter the paste is when it goes into the dehydrator, the longer it will take to dry.
